This is a snapshot of what I’m doing, learning, and thinking about these days. It’s not intended to be comprehensive, just a glimpse of what currently has my attention.
Learning and Exploring
I’ve always enjoyed learning new things, particularly things that require patience, practice, and a willingness to be a beginner again.
Lately, that’s included precision rimfire shooting. I’m learning the finer points of marksmanship, positional shooting, and the surprisingly complicated business of getting a small bullet to hit a distant target.
I’m also working on becoming a runner again. Nothing ambitious—just gradually building endurance, enjoying the process, and trying to make running a sustainable part of my life.
Building and Thinking
I spend a lot of time thinking about software development, architecture, and how people work together to build systems.
Lately, I’ve been particularly interested in AI-assisted development, developer workflows, and how these tools might change the way we approach software engineering.
I write about technology and software development over at Culture of Code.
Getting Outside
Birdwatching remains one of my favorite excuses to get outdoors, slow down, and pay attention.
I enjoy hiking, exploring, and generally finding reasons to spend time outside.
Writing More
One thing I’d like to do more consistently is write.
Not necessarily long articles or polished essays, but observations, experiences, experiments, and the occasional random thought.
That’s part of why I’m putting more emphasis on the journal here. I want somewhere to capture what I’m learning and experiencing, without worrying too much about whether it fits a particular theme.
Inspired by the /now movement.
